Professional Group

Individual or company in Hong Kong, who are professional kitchen / interior designers, architects, builders, remodelers and kitchen dealers.

 

Open Group

Artists, researchers, and cooking and design enthusiast from worldwide.

 

Student Group

Full-time and part-time students majoring Design and over 18 years old from worldwide.

Each award grants HKD 20,000 Mia Cucina voucher and HKD 20,000 cash

 

 

OPEN GROUP (1 Award):

-Mia Cucina Design & Research Award

 

The award grants HKD 10,000 Mia Cucina voucher and HKD 10,000 cash

 

 

STUDENT GROUP (1 Award):

-Mia Cucina Student Award

 

The award grants HKD 8,000 cash voucher

Judging Criteria

The submitted projects will be carefully assessed by a panel of experienced parties, professionals and connoisseur with expertise in design and stylish cooking. All decisions made by the judges are final.

All entries will be judged on criteria including creativity and visual appeal, thoughtfulness to overall kitchen workflow, caring to details, practicality and functionality. *Each design can be submitted to apply for multiple awards, but only a maximum of 5 submissions will be allowed.

*Designer or firm name must NOT appear on any design plans, statements or photographs.

Mr. Paul Chu

Head and Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture of Chu Hai College of Higher Education, Design Thesis Supervisor for postgraduate programmes in Architecture and Urban Design at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). M.Sc (Architecture and Urban Design) of Columbia University, B.A.(A.S.) (Hons) and M.Arch (Distinction) degree of HKU, Convener of Hong Kong Urban Design Alliance (HKIUD), a founding member of Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design (HKIUD), member of Hong Kong Institute of Architect (HKIA), Hong Kong Registered Architect and PRC Class 1 Registered Architect. Honorary Treasurer, Hong Kong Institute of Architects, ex-Council Member of the HKIA, ex-member of the Hong Kong Architects Registration Broad, Official Delegate and Council Member at Architects Regional Council of Asia (ARCASIA) in 2013 and 2014, member of HKSAR Government Central Policy Unit that advised the Chief Executive on the preparation of Annual Policy Address, Advisory Committee Member of Urban Renewal Authority, member of Appeal Panel (Housing), member of Advisory Committee on the Appearance of Bridges and Associated Structures (ACABAS).

 

Awards obtained include Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar (New York), Contemporary Construction Expert of China, Hong Kong Young Architect Award, 20 for 21st Century Emerging Hong Kong Architect and Hong Kong 10 Outstanding Designers, champion to ‘In search of Diversity in School Design’ in 2002, and more.

He has been awarded Perspective 40 under 40, Young Gun by Art Directors’ Club of New York, and HSBC Youth Business Award.

A former advertising talent and Founder of Xi Yan Private Dining, is currently a Celebrity Chef in town.
